More Planes - Day 9

First stop of the day is free breakfast.

The next stop was the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum. This was Marcus's pick for activities on the trip.

First, we looked at the museum which talked a lot about the history of planes and some space stuff.

One notable thing is the Avro Arrow which was extremely high technology for its time. It was supposed to fly at Mach 2.6, but the project ultimately got canceled. This is because they were built as interceptor planes to destroy the bombing planes from the Soviet Union, but Canada decided it wasn't worth the money to spend on it. It was sad for Canadians as it would have put us ahead of other countries for technology, but it wasn't released. It did pave the way for Canada becoming a major part of NASA.

We also did a paid guided tour of a private hangar which was jam packed with planes. It was so cool as the guide was able to fit so much info in two languages in 1 hour.

After the museum we went to the St. Laurent mall again and ate at the same Shawarma place again to show Marcus and Rita how good it was. We looked around the mall for a bit before heading back to the Airbnb for an hour's rest.

Afterwards, we visited Bryan and Fiona! They graciously hosted us for a BBQ dinner and it was great to chat.

Everyone loves Oats

We even saw fireflies in their yard! He's said that there are fireflies at dusk, and as Calgarians we were really excited to see fireflies in person.

Eventually, after waiting a while, we finally saw them! There was only a couple but it was easy to spot them against the dark hedges. They were brighter than we thought they would be. Sadly, we couldn't get an image of them.
