Shibuya Crossing - Day 4

Shibuya Crossing - Day 4
In the Shibuya Crossing

Breakfast inventory was low, so we visited Lawson's, a convenience store.

Amelia got miso ramen, Marcus and Steve had onigiri, Rita got sandwich, and we got fried chicken to share. It was a must try for Lawson's.

It was very yummy.

Then we visited the Olympic museum that we were meaning to go to earlier.

It was pretty cool. When we got there, we read about the Deaflympics, which are going to start just as leave Japan. Upstairs, we saw lots of information on the history of the Olympics. They had a collection of torches used in past Olympics but unfortunately not Calgary's. 😢

They had some games to play that compare you against Olympians. You can jump, synchronize, shoot, balance, and test the weight of things like discuses, shots, hammers, and javelins. There were a couple of school groups that went through at the same time.

Then we had a gyoza lunch and yakisoba, and witnessed (and went) through the Shibuya Crossing. We even saw it high up.

Then we went to the Nintendo store. It was pretty busy. Amelia wanted a King Boo stuffy, because she always uses him when she plays Mario stuff, but it was too expensive and big, and we'd have to vacuum seal it.

There was a Capcom store beside it, and Steve got a Tsum Tsum TM of Mega Man.

We also saw the Bugcat Capoo, a cute cartoon with a dog and a cat.

Then we went to Tokyo HANDS: a department store that sells literally everything. Amelia spent a while here, and came out successful.

It was dark once we finished, and everyone was hungry. So we ate at a Japanese pasta place called Yomen'ya Goemon in Shibuya. It was so delicious, and is a must try. We recommend the 5 types of mushroom cream pasta. And note that the tomato sauce pasta is Japanese style meaning the sauce is slightly sweet.

Pasta!

After we attempted to see another 3D billboard. There were many screens and reflections of screens, so it was hard to tell which screen to look at. It was also pretty busy since it was in the Shibuya Crossing.

Shibuya Crossing at night

We waited for a while, but nothing happened. So we gave up.

Next we braved even worse rush hour traffic on the train. Since we are small ('we' as in the kids) and short, we were jammed into the cracks between people, and when the train moves, it sways back and forth, pushing us into the people beside us.

It was only briefly, and after it was much more peaceful.

To end the day, we restocked our cargo (water, tea, and breakfast bread), and had dessert.
